Monday, March 14, 2011 – DATELINE PHILADELPHIA – watching television, Channel 29 – FOX – from “Good Day” to “Wendy…” Holy shit – what crap on broadcast. News – Japan – nuclear alerts; after-effects of tsunami/earthquake… Current condition of Haiti? Israel? Egypt? Iran? Iraq? Greece? Turkey? Bosnia? Russia? China? Canada? Colombia? Chile? Peru? Nicaragua? Africa? New Zealand? Australia? The UK? Ireland? Scotland? The “tips” – Arctic and Antarctic? Anywhere else?

Public education in urban USA– the quality and elements? Funding? National debt – what does that really mean?

Fine art in today’s socio-economic culture – does it exist? How far-reaching, if it does exist? Art education?

Mattresses – how significant is the current market for consumer mattresses and for the hospitality industry? Foam versus cylinders, springs and fabric assemblies, air channels, water tubes or cotton futons?

Quality and distribution of Scott toilet paper, 1,000-sheet single-ply rolls?

The daily blog… Random thoughts typed for you.

What really happens when we die and thereafter? I have my mom’s ashes contained in a burgundy plastic rectangular box, adorned with her photo and a collection of small objects with esoteric meaning.

Today I am 60 years of age and I reside in the SW suburbs of Philadelphia; my brother, Bruce, just called to tell me that he and Chris were driving to Titusville because his father-in-law had died. That happens more often as we age. Our parents never really discussed this part of growing older. I can smile today. At 60 I am more familiar with death; the humor = not easier to bear; simply more familiar. Hence, I can smile at death and know I am still standing here; sitting here, in fact, typing these words as if in conversation with you.

Good morning; it’s 10:47 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011. My name is Jeffrey Wayne Pergament and this is my blog.

Time for breakfast; had my coffee; took my “morning meds;” my world is stable.

Harold Pinter is one of my favorite playwrights. There are others. Beckett; Shakespeare. Others still. The Birthday Party, Endgame, Waiting for Godot, Happy Birthday, Judy Moon (?) Wanda? I don’t recall – the point of this – the theatrical sense of timing – coming from right here – the characters are immediately in character – the action has been ongoing – the audience is dropping on on existing action and will leave with story unfolding at the end of the show/presentation.

This is my “take” in my plays and writing and artistic timing.

This being stated, the purpose of today’s blog – yesterday’s funeral service for my friend, Deb, who also was my neighbor. Her son also is my friend and now my heart has extended to her family – her mom, her younger brothers, the relations to this core, and her daughter and Brian’s older sister, Dina. Dina is married with three beautiful children – Tabatha, Joshua and Zachary – wonderful children – magical.

The Good Witch of the East passed during the Christmas holiday and was buried yesterday at S.S. Peter and Paul in Broomall, PA. There was a requiem mass, a viewing and a post-cemetery luncheon gathering. The day was long and magnificent. This day’s procession brought incredible strength through love to Deb’s mom, who buried her second child and first-born and only daughter yesterday. Florence is 72. Brian is 25. Deb was my friend and she died in the same manner as my sponsor, Jerry, died this past July. Familiarity of the inevitable does not ease anything relative to the inevitable. The price of loving kindness is vulnerability, empathy, shared sorrow and a heart that can light some of the darkest places on this planet, one to one, at any given moment. The incense was appealing to me.

The cemetery was windy and cold. I was told that location always is like that – even in the spring!!! Imagine that? I had watched the film, “Purgatory,” during the holiday. It stars Sam Sheppard, Eric Roberts and Randy Quaid of whom I remember. Sheppard plays Wild Bill Hickok, Quaid plays Doc Holiday and Roberts plays a new bad guy names Black Jack. The town of Refuge is an amends to a life-taking lifestyle during one’s actual life and precedes the “final determination” of an alleged heaven or an alleged hell. It is a very well-made film and within the same double feature evening venue with “What Dreams May Come.” I prefer embracing some level of artistic fantasy to surround my conceptual posture of death after this life I understand as best as I may understand my life right now.

As a Jew, I am supposed to accept my time in hell on earth, to make the best of all situations at all times, and that we all go to the same place – heaven. How we play it day to day has been defined in writing from the desert lifestyle for 5,770 years so far. How that relates contemporaneously to my life and presence in 2009 in North America is what I seek today.

Trying not to speak with others until Sunday now. Very limited discussions – William, Ricky; a text to Steve. None others. Messages. I played them. I listened. I need to replenish my own danred self. I saw this in someone else and I knew it was true for me, too. I have taken a sabbatical in anticipation of Monday night’s Area Service Committee meeting and then Friday’s CA PA-NJ-DE AREA CONVENTION starts through Sunday, 11/8/2009. Then, Unity breakfast at same hotel as Convention in December and the year 2010 is upon us.

My thoughts are toward myself, toward replenishment and self-expression through my art – two new canvases and a third underway. Five blank prepared surfaces await. Raw materials in my storage unit and exterior studio. I have some custom furniture there; some I am painting and finishing; some is welded aluminum and cut glass. I have taken a pause in my legal affairs to contemplate what the hell happened in these past ten months and what it is I want accomplished by December 31, 2009, now that it is October 30, 2009. “As good a time as any to assess the situation…”

I have published a series of PDFs – one is my WINTER HOLIDAY CATALOG, SPECIAL THINGS FOR SPECIAL PEOPLE, VOLUME 2; one is my art presentation; one is my corporate presentation. You will find these in my media library.

I am new to this WORDPRESS DOT COM BLOG world yet find it an excellent means to share my thoughts.

It’s Mischief Night in the suburbs of Philadelphia, the night before Hallowe’en.

Peace,

While Marvin Gaye sings in the background from another web browser, I am here and posting some thoughts for the day. I read in the NY Times that Nancy Pelosi offered up a 1,990 page document from the House to serve as our National Healthcare Document. Have you read it? I downloaded the document today and will read it. Hon. Harry Reid (?) has an alternate from the Senate, right? So how come? How come the Congress and the Senate are not simply writing a document that provides the exact same health insurance program for us as they receive as our public servants and elected officials? Why is there such debate that a 1,990 page document is required? Was this the requirement for Congress to obtain its healthcare package? How come? How come we, the citizens, who ordered to make a more perfect union in 1776, are not receiving the exact same healthcare as Congress or the Senate? How come?

In an attempt to overcome inertia and to generate past due income, I am blogging this afternoon about a group of people – my former clients – some you may know; some you may not know. The first person is Randall Mattison, a property owner who took it upon himself to sucker me to a lunch in Jenkintown and then leave me with the bill as he hastily made his exit and then changed the locks on the contracted property, stealing my tools and equipment and a variety of raw materials. As a law-abiding citizen, I did go to the 14th. District and filed a criminal complaint. To date, nothing has been done as I also was advised that I should go to the Wynnecote police station and then go to Randall’s home to serve him. I turned this one over to my attorney to file a civil suit against this deadbeat client who owes me money and has stolen items from me.

The next client is a woman named Marianne Brown who is a greedy woman and filed a civil suit against a handful of entities and also owes me substantial money – approximately $35,000.00. She also has an LLC – El Salvador, LLC and was a participant in Real Estate Riches, a bullshit opertaion that suckers first-time RE investors with a seminar and then wholesales neglected properties to these newly informed RE “bigshots.” These properties could not and would not sell in an “open market.”

Then, we have Joe Bellomo and Chris Graci, also former clients and using an LLC, OMEGA PROPERTY INVESTMENTS, who never served notice and simply changed locks on contracted properties with my materials and tools on-site and with an outstanding balance due to me of an amount less than $6,000.00 and an outstanding debt to NEW DEAL LUMBER & MILLWORK for approximately $18,000.00 for replaced items and materials from thefts on-site at N. 48th. Street. Like Randall Mattison, these clowns were under-insured and failed to file claims against these losses and my corporation covered these expesnes in good faith. In fact, Randall’s policy expired in August, 2008, and he was under contract through January, 2009. These contract breaches take time to introduce to the civil courts and cost me more money to seek that which is due to me.

What I have come to learn is a simple axiom – NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED.

Finally, there remains one asshole named William J. Klotz, Jr. who owes me in excess of $50,000.00 for his support over the course of TY2009 and carried an outstanding debt from TY2008. In his audacity, he asked me to stand as his newborn son’s Godfather. He now faces 4 years probation and restitution and fines for a previous action against a property owner whose property I insured as a gesture of goodwill. Again, NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED.

Although I have spoken numerous times with the Montgomery County ADA, all I have experienced to date is lip service and the advice that these are civil matters for my corporation. Obviously, to me, this is bullshit and I am out thousands of dollars and have little recourse beyond civil courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, public blogging and in-depth discussions with my attorneys.

NONE OF THIS PUTS MONEY INTO MY POCKETS. Perhaps this is an exercise is masturbation; perhaps not.

Let’s see who is paying attention and who tries to sue me for these words – all of which are true.

At the very least, this serves to appease me and to entertain me and to add more words to my blog, in case anyone of these former clients happens to “Google” or “Yahoo” or “Bing” me and find out that I am publicly writing about the past 18 months’ bullshit!

Please have a nice day! I am.

I am content with my diversification as I also include precious metals and precious gems in my investment strategy. The standard suggestion is to maintain a 20% segment of precious metals in an investment portfolio, and I prefer bullion versus stocks or “ETFs”. It is considered prudent investment if precious metals are part of a balanced “diet” of physical real estate, stocks, bonds and cash. I do not own real estate or bonds today. I do own fine art and other “collectables” that surely are subject to the whims and “fancies” of the “buyer market.”

At the close of fiscal year 2008, my stock portfolio had an equity value of “X” and carried a net loss of 56%. At the end of the third quarter 2009, my equity value was “3X” and my net loss was 13%. My stock portfolio consists of only 4 stocks and one (1) stock increased significantly to carry this growth from negative 56% to negative 13%.

I am not a “day trader” or an “in and out” investor. These stocks were acquired for long-term service, meaning there was no intention of selling until an 18-month “holding period” had elapsed. I made investments once each month at different days of the month, contingent on my research and deliberations. In March, 2009, I stopped acquisitions and allowed the market to “do its thing” while the newly elected US President began his on-the-job “demonstration project.” Given the results I have achieved as we begin the fourth quarter 2009, I am happy with my determinations and subsequent actions. I still have a “stop” on my stock portfolio and have no immediate plans to acquire more stock.

I am, however, continuing my research and there are some “things” that have piqued my interest.

Further, the past fiscal year’s activities in my business and the community at large have diminished my “cash reserves” in a significant manner. Civil litigation against “deadbeat” and fraudulent clients as well as personal philanthropy to provide support for loved ones have cost me more than desired yet I made a commitment at the start of 2009 to dedicate the first 6 months to address these outstanding issues. As a result, I have initiated criminal proceedings against specific individuals and maintain a plaintiff posture in several matters and stand as a cross-complainant in two other civil matters. My legal counsel provides the appropriate service to address these issues in order that my “contemplative time” can be better utilized to develop new “markets” and business opportunities within the framework of asset development rather than liability management.

And that’s the “skinny” on my economic posture for today, October 3, 2009.

From “Dividend Inc.”:

“A Note of Caution for All Precious Metal Investors”

“As the price of the precious metals get higher, the less likely you’ll get the widely quoted price when trying to cash in. Precious metal dealers, being business folk, will not be willing or able to take the risk of buying back your gold and silver at the highest quoted price. Therefore, even though gold was at $800 and silver was at $50 back in 1980, investors who tried to cash in at those prices were being turned away by dealers. This will be one of the signs that we’re at a top in the market for precious metals.”

Why Gold NOW?

Gold Myth #1: Stocks always outperform gold

Fact: This is a misrepresentation popularized by institutions whose job it is to sell you stocks for commission, regardless of whether you see gains. But the truth is gold has increased by as much as almost 3,000% since the US abandoned the gold standard and the metal was allowed to trade freely on the open market in 1971. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has only increased by about 900% since that time. Even at the top of the market, when the Dow Jones was over 14,000, the index had only gained 1,500%.

Gold Myth #2: Gold is a risky investment

Fact: Gold is the opposite of risky. In fact, it’s one of the safest investments you can make. And that’s simply because gold can never be considered as a liability. Companies can go fall to zero.

Of course, every investment carries some degree of risk. The price of gold is subject to supply/demand fundamentals, currency fluctuations, government and central bank actions, etc. But the value of physical gold can’t disappear in the middle of the night with a crooked investment manager or in the wake of a collapsing government.

Gold Myth #3: Gold is a poor hedge against inflation

Fact: Gold is actually one of the best hedges against inflation. Consider this. . . In 1971, the factory sticker price for a Mustang Boss 351, Ford’s final muscle car masterpiece, was $5,198. If you decided to hold onto your cash and buy a car today, your $5,200 would only make for a good down payment. The lowest MSRP of any vehicle sold in the US today is about $11,000—and that’s for a tiny plastic death trap. But say that you bought gold instead of holding cash. At the time, $5,200 would have also bought you about 150 ounces of gold. Those same 150 ounces of gold are now worth over $140,000 at today’s gold prices. With that kind of money, you could buy a brand new, fully loaded BMW M6. . . plus have an extra $20,000 leftover to put towards gas.

NOW, WHY GOLD NOW?

Gold’s Leading Authority Expects Gold to Break Price Record
By Luke Burgess
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Don’t own gold yet? Don’t worry…

Because even at $940 an ounce, gold prices are still positioned to surge by three… four… or even five times!

In fact, if gold prices perform even half as well as they did during the bull market of the 1970s, the yellow metal will explode to over $2,500 in a matter of months.

The world’s top gold consultant agrees…

GFMS Ltd. (formerly known as Gold Fields Mineral Services) recently echoed Gold World’s longstanding rationale for higher gold prices and predicted a new price record within the next few weeks.

GFMS Executive Chairman Philip Klapwijk wrote in a recent report, “Looking at the second half of 2009, investment demand, and especially its western elements, which includes activity in ETFs, futures and the OTC market, is expected to remain the driving force behind gold price movements.”

The independent consultancy group, which pulls information from over 15,000 contacts across 49 countries around the world, predicted that identifiable gold investment will exceed 1,500 tonnes by the end of this year. This estimate would represent a significant 36% increase over identifiable gold investment demand in 2008.

In dollar terms, GMFS expects gold investment demand to increase 57% over last year to nearly $50 billion.

As a result of this surge in investment demand, GFMS expects gold prices to break through the nominal high of $1,032 an ounce, which was set back in Spring 2008.

GFMS reported that global gold demand will experience a massive increase this year, particularly from net investment and official coins components as a result of rising fears over the long-term inflation threat in western nations. This is the same idea proposed to readers of Gold World over the past several years
